Metallic

'Metallic' is a PBR concept that controls how 'metallic' the surface looks. Metallic surfaces are less diffuse and more reflective of the incoming light.

info

Only available when using the realistic lighting mode.

General Settings

Metallic Map

Metallic map directly controls the metalness of the material.

  • The metallic map is an unpacked grayscale map.
  • Black = no metallic, white = full metallic.
  • Uses UV0.
  • Only the 'red' channel is used, all other channels will do nothing.
  • Defaults to white (full metallic) when not set.
note

The map works in tandem with the metallic slider. The slider acts as a scale that determines the 'max' value of this metallic map. So if you have a metallic map, you likely want to set the metallic slider to 1.

Metallic Slider

Multiplies the value of the metallic map, acting as a 'max' value. If the metallic map is fully metallic, this slider will determine the max value of that metalness.

  • 0 = no metallic
  • 1 = full metallic.
note

If you have a metallic map, you'll want to set this to 1 as this value is multiplied by the metallic map!
